“Being so sick affected me tremendously,” Teresa laments. “I couldn’t do anything for myself. I couldn’t walk up the stairs or attend to my everyday needs. I was dependent on my family for everything, even using the washroom. I had to get a walker to move around. I couldn’t sleep.” “It was such a dark stage in my life. It affected me mentally, and I needed therapy to adapt to my condition. I was once a very strong woman. I was fit for anything. But at this time, I was unable to even stand. My family helped and supported me in the best ways but it was hard on them,” Teresa recalls. Toward the end of 2022, Teresa’s specialist informed her that she needed a liver transplant and stated the possibility that she may not survive long enough to find a donor.
